So you’re not tired of Star Wars are you? At the Reek of Geek headquarters it’s pretty much all we talk about so to have a bit more news on the forthcoming ‘Skywalker Saga’ films is only a good thing.

It seems we now have a title for Episode VIII (due to be released December 15th 2017) and Lucasfilm are going with The Last Jedi.

Sing Movie Review by a 10 year old Mini Geek

The new animation movie from Dreamworks had preview screenings across the UK and as a treat I took my little Mini Geek daughter to see the it and write up a review.

Mini Geek#1 review of Sing:

“I like Sing the movie because it’s funny and it’s full of the songs like Shake it Off by Taylor Swift, Firework by Katy Perry and I’m still standing by Elton John. It is also great because it had animals and if you’ve just heard the title of the film you wouldn’t you wouldn’t know that it was animals.”

There is also a phrase that everyone could use “don’t let fear stop you from doing the thing you love” which everyone lived up to in the end”. My favourite character was Gunter voiced by Nick Kroll, I like him because he’s funny, he can’t sing and he is a very silly dancer.”

“My mums favourite character is Buster Moon,  because he’s passionate about the theatre, And he loves his dad.  He was voiced by Matthew mcConaughey”.

“My dads favourite character was Johnny, because he didn’t think he was a good singer but turned out to be amazing. he was voiced by Taran Egerton”.

“This movie was a great surprise with lots of songs, emotions and laughs in one great film.  We also saw people dancing in the cinema. I give this film 5 out of 5”.

Logan Trailer #2 – Red Band and Awesome

So the 2nd trailer for Logan landed this week and this movie is living up to the hype.  The fight scenes, the in jokes and swearing from Professor Xavier made this trailer everything I wanted and more. The first trailer revealed the dark future that Logan and Charles now live in, the X-men are gone, mutants are being hunted and the world is a darker place, similar to X-men: Days of Future Past but a lot worse.

The introduction of Laura, a clone created from the remnants of the  Weapon X experiment adds the passing of the torch from Wolverine to her character could (and should) happen at the end of the film.  Her evolution into the infamous “X23” who took the mantle of Wolverine in the Marvel comic universe.

X23 Wolverine Clone

The bleak trailer and setting signals the end of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and what a tenure its been.  He took the character from the first X-men movie and evolved him over 17 years and 10 movies, taking his place as the original Wolverine. My hopes are high for X23 and the next generation of mutants, with the X-Force movie in the works the mutants can have a resurgence in future.

A kids look at the top 10 film of 2017

There is an abundance of kids films coming this year and instead of me giving my opinion I decided to ask my 10 year old daughter “Mini-Geek#1” what are her top 10 kids films for 2017, her selection was quite interesting.

Wonder Woman Villain Revealed

The trailer of the new Wonder Woman film looks like it could be a kick-ass outing for the DC Universe and be the movie hit they crave. Recently French magazine Studio Ciné Live has revealed the villain in the movie.

Gal Gadot’s Princess Diana will be facing off against classic Wonder Woman antagonist Ares, the ancient Greek god of war. With speculation that German officer, Danny Huston will play the devastating figure Ares, the movie takes on a mythical vibe similar to Thor.

With the release date set for 2 June 2017 and Justice League in November DC could have some big hits this year… could have, only time will tell.
