▷ Trailer – Halo: The Series

Find the Halo, win the war. Premieres March 24, 2022 on Paramount+ (Sky TV in the UK)

Last night Paramount+ dropped the official trailer for the upcoming Halo television series and we get plenty to see! Master Chief, the Covenant and Cortana all feature and it looks as though we’re getting a story not told in any of the games. (sort of)

This from 343 Industries:

‘Silver’ is the name of the central Spartan fireteam, and, of course, a nod to the ‘silver screen’ too – naturally, the name stuck. The Silver Timeline is a unique vision of the Halo universe that contains and embraces many key elements of the core canon that has spanned the last two decades, but with relevant contextual and narrative details that diverge in ways appropriate (and necessary) to the storytelling opportunities presented by the TV medium and our collaboration with creative partners.

To tell the best Halo stories we can, we want to protect the integrity, simplicity, and future of the core canon, but also not be limited by it when faced with the realities of a new medium and the process of production. As a result, we made the decision to set the Halo television series in an authentic, but independent timeline.

There have been a few attempts to bring a Halo series to life over the years starting with Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) in 2007 working directly with original Halo creator Bungie. Then in 2012 a five episode web series called Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn was produced and finally in 2014 a five episode series called Halo: Nightfall which is still available to buy or rent from the Xbox Store.

I’m hyped for this, ever since I saw the test footage from Neill Blomkamp’s works I’ve been hoping for a true Halo series to come out but I was never sure the effects could be pulled off at the time. Since then we’ve seen production values on sci-fi television shows improve and I’m hoping this is the perfect time to push this series out.

The Halo show stars Pablo Shreiber of American Gods as Master Chief, with Jen Taylor taking on the role of Cortana, who she voiced since the release of the first Halo game in 2001. Natasha McElhone, who was originally cast to play Cortana, will star as Dr. Catherine Halsey.
