Looks like EA still has some stories to tell from a galaxy far, far away.
Despite news that Ubisoft grabbed a huge deal with Disney to create a new Star Wars game, it seems that Respawn (owned by EA and creators of Titanfall and Apex Legends) hasn’t quite finished with the franchise. The developer announced that it’s working on three new Star Wars titles, including a sequel to 2019 action-adventure game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
The studio will also be making a currently untitled Star Wars first-person shooter and is partnering with Bit Reactor — a recently announced team founded by former developers from XCOM studio Firaxis Games — on a strategy game.
I really enjoyed Fallen Order and to see that Respawn have the opportunity to bring some of these characters back is pretty exciting. It looks as though the deal with Ubisoft won’t make them exclusive (in the same way EA had exclusivity for 8 years) and in fact LucasFilm games are open to the idea of other developers working on their various IPs. Quantum Dream are currently working on a Star Wars title and this time last year Bethesda announced an Indiana Jones game is being produced.
So it looks like if you’re a fan of Star Wars you’ll be spoilt for choice in the future!
But while we’re here, if Respawn could just make another Titanfall game I’d be super grateful. 😉
