That’s right, you heard it. A new Star Trek series.
It’s been a long long time since our small screens were graced with the presence of a new Star Trek series but, there is good news everyone! CBS have announced that a brand spanking new series is in the works and will be hitting US networks and dedicated CBS streaming services in January 2017 although no date has been given for general worldwide release.
The brand-new Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.
The series will be produced by Alex Kurtzman, Kurtman co-wrote and produced the recent big screen incarnations; Star Trek and Star Trek: Into Darkness so expect some big stories and characters. It’s not yet been said with Star Trek universe will feature in the new series but CBS have confirmed it will not be linked to the upcoming Star Trek Beyond which is due to hit cinemas in the summer of next year.
