WWE will present Fastlane tonight which will be shown on the WWE Network as well as SKY. With the WWE Network free during February this is a great chance to see the WWE Stars in action, but will it be worth it.
Fastlane replaces the Elimination Chamber PPV which was one of the highlights in the PPV calendar so lets hope this event lives up to the hype.
Below are a list of the matches with my prediction of who will come out on top:
The Usos with Naomi (c) v Cesaro and Tyson Kidd with Natalya
Tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship
This match is all about the ongoing Tyson Kidd and Natalya storyline which is being run on Total Divas. The match should we a walk in the park for the Usos, but the frustrations of Nattie against Tyson could bubble over and lead to a showdown at Wrestlemania 31 for the couple. The twist could come with Cesaro accusing Nattie of letting them down and manhandling her with Tyson coming to her rescue.
Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan and Ryback vs. The Authority (Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show)
This match feels like we have seen it before.. in November at the Survivor Series but with nothing on the line it seems this match could be a spotfest. J&J security will be on hand to cause Havok and Mayhem and the team of Ziggler, Rowan and Ryback will be looking for some revenge. The prospect of Randy Orton showing up and costing The Authority the match is high setting up Rollins v Orton at Wrestlemania 31.
Bad News Barrett (c) v Dean Ambrose
Singles match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
This is a waste of 2 talents who have the potential to be main eventers. Dean Ambrose has been riding high with the “Lunatic Fringe” leader showing his aggressive streak and charisma in matches. Ambrose doesn’t have pretty matches, or technical sound matches, but they are entertaining and tell the story which can hold an audience. Barrett is being given all the chances to grab the brass ring but seems to miss it from his fingertips. Could his feud with Ambrose help Barrett get some good news and prove he has the tools to break through the glass ceiling or is he going to be a victim of the WWE pushing a giant against a talent?
Goldust V Stardust
The Rhodes brothers battle begins at Fastlane and with Goldust fighting to save Cody’s soul before he becomes Stardust full time. The story is pure WWE entertainment but with Dustin Rhodes hinting his in-ring career coming to an end this could lead to a career v career match at Wrestlemania 31.
John Cena v Rusev
United States Championship Match
Could this be the beginning of the end for Cena as the WWE #1 guy? will he lose the United States title and fight Rusev at Wrestlemania in some gimmick match. This match only benefits Rusev who is getting a push from beating Cena to a pulp and beating him in a rematch at Wrestlemania 31.
Nikki Bella (c) (with Brie Bella) vs. Paige
WWE Divas Championship
Nikki Bella has been on form as the Divas champ and is kicking butts along the way, with the reformation of the bitchy Bella Twins this match could be a surprise of the night. Paige has been the Divas champion on numerous occasions and this could be a big win for Paige which will lead her to fight at her first Wrestlemania. Could this match be a return for AJ Lee, her interference could cost Nikki her title and set up a triple threat match for Wrestlemania, or a fatal-four way with Brie, Aj, Nikki and Paige.
Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan
Singles match to determine the No.1 contender for the WrestleMania 31 Heavyweight Championship
This match has only been organised because of the crowd reaction at Royal Rumble 2015, the Philly crowd were so vocal and social media exploded with rejection of having Roman Reigns being their chosen one. I hope Daniel Bryan beats Roman Reigns with the Yes Lock and walks into Wrestlemania as the challenger to Brock Lesnar and wins the WWE Heavyweight Title. If Daniel Bryan wins it demonstrates the WWE are listening to their Universe and have faith in him to be the top guy. If Roman Reigns wins then they are just forcing him down the throats of the fans which demonstrates the WWE doesn’t care about the fans.
Triple H and Sting meet face to face
The set up for the Wrestlemania showdown between Triple H and Sting begins at Fastlane and this match isn’t a dream match in my opinion, its an ego match for Triple H and a way for him to get on the card at Wrestlemania. If you put The Rock, John Cena or event Steve Austin in the ring with Sting then then you have a dream match, all Triple H wants is additional exposure and the chance to go down in history.
